Either Dekhan Plateau or the Indra-Gondowan passage area would work. Plateaus are usually quite arid and dry though, so I am not sure if it will look that good when connected to Mercury. Then again, a cave with scenery that mimics the Shrine of the Sea God would probably suit the passage as well.

I agree with Role though; you need winding rivers and more patches of forest.

Otherwise, it looks great so far.

Er, I was using it as an example of the style of area - basically, it's an area that's used to travel between two areas, rather than just going across it in the world map.  But yeah, it's basically either going to be a mountain trail or a underground passage/tunnel/cave thing.  Personally, I prefer the Mountain Trail approach myself.

Salanewt said it: A cave-like area makes more sense for a Mercury transition, unless you're gonna have rivers and waterfalls flowing through the mountains or something. Which, admittedly, would be really friggin' cool.

a frozen mountain path (dekhan plateau like) would be epic.

Green Hill Zone? *gunshot* Oh cool, a mountainous area with rivers and waterfalls would probably be a good choice. We could even put an optional area in there that requires later psynergy spells; for example, an area behind a waterfall that requires either Parch or Frost to be able to access.

Frozen mountain path: That sounds excellent too, though it might not make too much sense for this transition, given where the geographic region is for this place. A bit further north would make sense though.

I'd love to hear your reasoning here, especially when we're trying to not have everything elementally themed.

It isn't necessarily elemental themed, per se. However, it might work for a type of area that would be like a series of bluffs and sharp cliffs.

Look, remember how we said that these things existed before clans showed up?  THAT.  Let's not focus on where something is to set up its thematics.  It's either a generic tunnel or a generic mountain path.

I myself lean towards a mountain path.  Why?  Look at how long that land bridge is.  A simple cave won't cut it.  A tunnel probably is better suited for something smaller.  I mean, are you really implying that we went out of our way to bore a tunnel through the entire mountainous region?  I don't know about you, but last I checked most of the members on this forum aren't the type to actually push themselves to do stuff like that.  Hell, the discussion on the CH has dropped down to just a few people - we were lucky that John joined the site, to be honest - otherwise it'd be you, me, Jamie, Greiver, and... that's it.  I don't think Maxi really got involved until just recently.

That should show how dedicated most of the forum is - nowhere near enough to bore a hole through a mountainous landbridge.  I think it'd make more sense if a mountain path had been created instead.

nice avatar too. I will soon be done with work and visitingg family and. will add tthe features requested earlier. I'll see what I can do. and I like the mountains idea but, since we might have a Shangrila like place in mercury clan continent, as mentioned in Notable Locations, it would make since to have waterfalls and misty places. not necessarily mercury related, just a tropical region.

From what i see, a mountain path is a good way to do it. A mountain path will require a cave in it so I'm not sure why you consider them as two units rather than one.

PS: john .. what do you use to make those GS like maps?

A small cave would help for keeping out of the rain on bad weather days. (Water is near this area, so think of evaperation, condensation, and precipitation.) For example, maybe we can have a bear cave so that the bear can hibernate.. etc.

I think it should be mostly mountainous, though.

Edit: Probably a one-way trail of no return? (Either a slide, a gate defining the border, or something.)

PS: john .. what do you use to make those GS like maps?

I open sala's original 5000x4000 map and copy the section I want into a new paint doc. then I open Atrius' map of GS 2 and copy the sections that seem close to the section I am working on and paste them in a blank paint doc, edit them there, band paste them where I want them in the DC map. I sometimes have to zoom in and edit it pixel by pixel. but that is mainly for forests and mountains. Maxipower has a YouTube video about how to do it.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=m35sBAylsGs

my way of doing it is slightly different than maxi's so you can do it however you want but that is the basics.

Salanewt: [me] considers giving him the Sol Blade...
Salanewt: Oh my. To be honest though, I'd be more likely to give Briggs stuff from later regions; him being a pirate from another continent and all.
JamietheFlameUser: How not to design boss fights: give human-type bosses stats and equipment on par for what the Editor says their level is and what equipment is available where they're from. You get stuff like an actually scaled to level 21 Briggs with a Great Sword, Silver Plate, Silver Helm, Vambrace, and Leather Boots. God, that was BS.
Saturos: Wow first part of exam is ower (in english) tomorow speaking part.
JamietheFlameUser: Eh, I didn't know the exact chance of Curse screwing you over. Still, that 6% chance to fail to act at all could screw you over when it matters most. The obvious solution, of course, is to stick that armour on a character who doesn't do anything but spam attack moves anyway.
leaf: ...assuming I'm remembering the chance of curse taking effect correctly as 25%
Today at 07:09:50
leaf: in fact, you get two turns the majority of the time (~56%), and only completely fail to act ~6%, the remainder of the time getting one action
Today at 07:07:49
leaf: I like that stealth armor buff. it wouldn't make sense to do that with the clerics ring available, but if you remove that, it's actually an interesting item. On average, you get ~1.5 turns per round. it's potentially very strong, but carries risks
Today at 07:04:59
leaf: lol
JamietheFlameUser: Reading the Venus Psynergy topic and 'lol'ing at Role's reaction to a very simple spell idea I'd had (and still think is awesome), where rock explodes out of the ground from a single point in a focused, cone-shaped burst. Role read me the riot act about not combining elements again. lol.
JamietheFlameUser: Well, one thing I came up with that was actually potentially cool is a modification to the Stealth Armour. I gave it +1 turns, under the assumption that the Cleric's Ring would be removed. You might get 2 actions that round, or 1 action, or maybe no actions at all! RNG at its finest.
Knight of Purgatory: Nice orange text kain. Maybe it should be a shiny gold
Today at 06:03:40
leaf: I concur. There isn't much I'd consider worth salvaging from dc in terms of work done, but reading the old threads can be quite amusing
